Private Colleges
There are over 700 private colleges in the US ranging from very difficult to easy admissions. Many private colleges offer need based financial aid which makes there net price potentially less than a CSU/UC. Private colleges have different application due dates. Some offer early admissions (non-binding), early decision (binding) and have a range of deadlines. Many colleges have rolling admissions or later deadlines beyond the November 30th deadline of UC/CSU.
Common App is the site to apply to most private colleges. One application for up to 20 colleges
Most private colleges require teacher and counselor recommendations
Filling out the Brag Sheet and Counselor Prompt can assist your recommenders in writing a good letter
You can send your Brag Sheet and Counselor Prompt to your counselor or myself. See counselor page for emails
Deadline for recommendation requests is December 7th in order to allow time for letters to be written in time

ACT Fee Waivers
I have a limited number of ACT fee waivers for interested students. The ACT is an alternative to the SAT for private colleges. I'm in the library during registration today or you can pick one up at the beginning of the school year. Remember many private colleges are now moving from test optional to required, though many continue to be test optional.

Early Actions vs Early Decision
Both are early applications, only Early Decision is binding. Meaning if they accept you, you must attend that college. Early Action is non-binding, so you have your options open in case you decide to attend a different college.
