- FAFSA/Dream Act is OPEN. By doing FAFSA you apply for both the Federal Pell Grant, and CA CalGrant.
- In order to be eligible for free tuition at community colleges (California College Promise) the FAFSA must be completed
- Additionally, completing the FAFSA or Dream Act is a California Graduation Requirement.
Note: Mixed status families (ex parent has no ssn) have to option to complete DREAM ACT instead of FAFSA
- Students with no social security number complete Dream Act (California)
FAFSA Waiver forms will be available at the College Office after March 6th
SAT Registration
SAT is recommended for all student interested in applying to private collegesYou can register at sat.org
To get a fee waiver send me a screenshot of your registration so I can send you the waiver code
You can practice for the SAT on Khan Academy. SAT will not be used by CSU or UC for admissions, nor used by community colleges
ACT
I have a limited number of ACT fee waivers for interested students. The ACT is an alternative to the SAT for private colleges. I'm in the library during registration today or you can pick one up at the beginning of the school year. Remember many private colleges are now moving from test optional to required, though many continue to be test optional.
Private College Applications are done primarily through Common App
You can apply to up to 20 colleges (such as Whittier College, Georgetown, and USC) with a single application!
You can start setting up your application then add schools
You will need to complete the Common App essay and get a counselor and teacher recommendation (not as hard as you'd think)
